"Now Behold it came to pass that the heat did go out for the space of 5 days"
Hi guys! My week has been pretty fun and like last week it involved a lot of service. So here are some stories.
During fast & testimony meeting there was a primary kid who began to bear his testimony on every person in the ward...... individually. The whole congregation got a chuckle out of it when he said about his sister "I even love Rachel!"
Secondly on Tuesday we had district council along with some yummy, yummy pancakes! After that we were doing some Facebook finding in the stake center's family history center with the Zone Leaders. That's when the ZL's got a call from the AP's that we needed to submit some baptismal forms because as it turns out the companionship right before Elder Hansen came in had baptized someone but then both left like a week later and forgot to fill out the forms.
We went to an amazing burger place called Parker's they have 135 different burgers! If you are ever in Missoula it's well worth it.
We then went to a youth activity about missionary work. And got to share our own experiences as missionaries as well as hear the leaders in the ward's stories.
On Thursday we stacked some wood in the morning and then we got to a have a religious discussion with them for a few hours. It didn't turn into the first lesson but a little at a time still works. Then right around noon they offered us lunch, which worked out since we had realized we forgot to pack some lunch.
After that we did personal, companionship, and weekly study and planning. Because... miles.
After that we did some raking for an older lady. It was actually really fun. When we pulled up, her neighbor's dog was in her yard. She was in the process of trying to get it to go home but only after it nabbed Elder Hansen's work glove, that's when it decided to go home. After that mess got worked out and we raked everything up we got some cookies. It is honestly amazing how many people use cookies to thank us for serving them.
On Friday we did exchanges and it was really fun. We did a lot of work and then a member took us out to Café Rio for dinner. We had an overall fun time. We finished up by playing some card games (after we were supposed to be in our apartment of course) and we may or may not have gone to bed at 11 instead of 10:30.
We switched back on Saturday at a lunch that a stake member provided us. He fed all the missionaries assigned to the stake. (About 20) it was honestly awesome.
On Sunday, we first went to church and they were doing a ward Thanksgiving party right afterward so we got fed pretty nicely. That was the only meal I had but it honestly filled me up that I'm not sure if I want breakfast today.
Anyway, after that we tried to visit referrals. We got mainly no one home but the second place that answered said, "You boys can't be up here, we got covid in here". Not quite sure if they did or if they were trying to get us not to share a message with them but either way we got out of there quickly. (It was through a video camera doorbell that they told us this so no risk of getting covid)
Well my week has been pretty fun!
Love,
Elder Krebs
PS- Our heat was out for 5 days this week!! It was super cold. The frustrating thing about it is that we found out it was our fault that we didn't have heat. (We were blocking the sensor with furniture we just moved!)
It’s beautiful…and looks so cold! No heat for 5 days….wow.
ReplyDeleteThat looks cold! Good thing you had all that wood to chop to warm you up.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Keep up the good work and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteLove reading your updates Elder Krebs! The people in that area are so blessed to have you serving them! I'm so sorry you didn't have heat for 5 days...that's brutal! But I couldn't help but think of a gospel lesson. That sometimes we make choices in our lives that block our "spiritual sensors", and the love and blessings available to us (ie the heat) can't be received. Its a good reminder to us to make sure our spiritual sensors are clear of any obstruction that might cause unecessary suffering or distress or lead us to feel like "the heat" has stopped coming from the source. Just like the heater still worked, our Heavenly Father & Savior never leave us and their love and blessings flow freely if we do what is necessary to access them.❤
